Sifnos: Deliciously enchanting

Featuring all the trademark characteristics of a Cycladic island (beautiful villages, fabulous beaches, excellent food and over 365 churches) Sifnos is one of those places that you find yourself -and your yacht charter- keep wanting to return year after year.

Situated in the middle of the triangle formed by Milos, Serifos and Paros, Sifnos is inhabited since 3000 BC but still feels untouched by the passage of time. Known throughout Greece as a foodie island, in part because it was the birthplace of the famous chef Nicholas Tselementes that wrote the first Greek book of recipes back in 1910, it makes sure to live up its delicious reputation. The central hub of activity is the -amphitheatrically built over three hills- capital of Apollonia. It is beautiful and archetypically Cycladic but not so much so as the traditional settlement of Artemónas, famous for its neoclassic mansions and its outstanding panoramic views of the island. One of the many postcard-perfect villages on the island that you must visit. Leave enough time to explore the historic settlement of Kástro, built over the ruins of ancient Sífnos and offering breathtaking views of the Aegean. Don't sail away before buying local delicacies as souvenirs as well as handmade creations from the many pottery workshops that the island is known since antiquity.
